24-hour messaging window

The 24-hour messaging window is the time an Instagram business account may message a person. The person writes first; for most actions the window lasts 24 hours from that message, and their next message opens it again.

What opens it

  • A message from the person to your professional account.
  • A response to your private reply, including a tap on a button that answers it.

Meta also describes longer windows for special cases, such as click-to-Direct ads, and a separate window for replies by a human agent, each with its own conditions.
